Bruno De Vita, K.C., is a Partner in the firm's litigation practice and a former Managing Partner. His civil litigation work emphasizes insurance law, governmental liability, class actions, and personal injury, for clients that include athletic associations, religious institutions, local governments, self-insured corporations, and major insurers. He handles complex coverage disputes, prosecutes and defends large property damage and business interruption claims, and has represented insurers in matters touching on fraud, arson, bad faith, and policy interpretation. His work also spans catastrophic injury claims, liability and disciplinary matters for professionals such as psychologists, insurance brokers, real estate agents, and lawyers, and defence work in civil cases involving sexual abuse allegations, including historical claims against religious institutions. Since 2016 Bruno has served as deputy chair of the investigatory chamber within FIFA's independent ethics committee, and since 2015 he has sat as an arbitrator with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was named Insurance Lawyer of the Year by the Canadian Bar Association's British Columbia Branch in 2014 and appointed King's Counsel in 2016. He is married with three daughters and four grandchildren, and values his Italian heritage and years spent playing soccer in East Vancouver.
