About Brian

Brian Downie is a partner in Cox & Palmer's Halifax office, admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1982. His practice focuses on health law and medical defence, including acting as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association and its member physicians. He earned his BA from Saint Mary's University in 1979 and his LLB from Dalhousie Law School in 1982. Brian was appointed Queen's Counsel, now King's Counsel, in 2002, and became a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2020.
