About Brian

Brian Awad is a partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office with over 25 years of experience in litigation, guiding individuals, businesses, and institutions through commercial disputes, regulatory issues, and financial litigation. He has particular experience in investments, securities regulation, tax disputes, estate disputes, and cross-border matters, having previously served as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Ontario and a prosecutor for the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization. Brian has appeared in all levels of court in Ontario and Nova Scotia, the superior courts of the other Atlantic provinces, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal. He has taught and lectured at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, and is a member of The Advocates' Society, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, and the Law Society of Ontario. He earned his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1993 and a B.A. from Queen's University in 1990, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1995 and the Nova Scotia bar in 1996.
