Booker was born and raised in China and studied software engineering at the South China University of Technology, finishing a B.Sc. there in 2015. A move to Canada followed in 2018, along with studies in agribusiness and time spent working in the hospitality industry. Law came next: Booker completed a J.D. at the University of Manitoba in 2024 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2025.

Intellectual property held Booker's interest well before practice. As a law student, Booker wrote for IP Osgoode's IPilogue and also worked as its content manager, publishing pieces in 2022 on subjects ranging from whether Gruyère can be protected as a trademark in Canada to the copyright questions raised by movie recap videos. Booker was vice president of the IP & Technology Law Group during law school, and in the final year took part in the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and helped get Sports and the Law in Canada off the ground, building its website and researching sports law for Prof. Martine Dennie's editorial team.

Outside work, Booker likes to cook, play games, travel and take on escape rooms.
