Benedict Wray is Senior Counsel at Tereposky & DeRose LLP and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is an international arbitration, trade, and ESG lawyer with more than 15 years of experience advising governments, investors, multinational corporations, and international organizations on investment treaties, investor-state disputes, international trade regulation, sanctions, and business and human rights matters. He has appeared in proceedings under the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, and ADRIC arbitration rules, and advises on ESG compliance, supply chain due diligence, and forced labour compliance. He participated in trade and investment treaty negotiations on behalf of the United Kingdom and sits on the Legal Advisory Panel to the Government of Canada on the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act. Before relocating to Canada in 2015, he practised as a barrister in London, England. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2016 and to the Bar Council of England and Wales in 2009, and holds a Ph.D. in Law and an LL.M. from the European University Institute, a Master 1 in French and English Law from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and an LL.B. in English and French Law from King's College London.
