About Ben

Ben Hahn earned his law degree from the University of Toronto and was admitted to the bar in 2013, giving him over a decade of experience in employment law. As a partner at Whitten & Lublin, he represents both employees and employers in disputes over terminations, wrongful and constructive dismissal, restrictive covenants, wage and bonus disagreements, human rights, and harassment. He has litigated across Ontario, including in Small Claims Court, the Superior Court, Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal, the Human Rights Tribunal, and the Labour Relations Board. In North v. Metaswitch Networks Corporation, he successfully overturned a lower court ruling at the Court of Appeal, establishing a precedent that limits how employers can rely on severability clauses in employment contracts. Other notable matters include Halupa v. Sagemedica, where he secured aggravated and punitive damages plus a personal liability finding against a company director, and Todd v. Deloitte LLP. Ben also writes on employment law topics and has been interviewed by outlets including HR Reporter and Law Times.
