About Ariane Lefebvre

Doctors are the clients Ariane Lefebvre works for. As an associate in the Medical Defence Group at Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, Ariane handles every kind of medical defence litigation for physicians, along with matters of professional regulation. Ariane is fluent in both official languages, so clients can work in English or French.

That work has taken Ariane before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, each time representing physicians. Ariane was called to the Ontario bar in 2023.

Where health meets the law has interested Ariane since student days. A Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa came before law school, and law school was the same university's French Common Law Program, which Ariane finished with distinction. In the spring 2021 term Ariane interned at the Senate of Canada with Senator Yvonne Boyer. During law school Ariane also represented French Common Law students on the Health Law Students' Association and was the only undergraduate student member of the university's Senate Appeal Committee.

Ariane has given time as a volunteer to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and to Reach Canada, which refers people with disabilities in the Ottawa region to legal help. Away from the books in those student years, Ariane enjoyed yoga, snowboarding and time outdoors in northern Ontario.
