About Joe

Joe Jebreen is a partner at NextGenLaw LLP with more than 18 years of litigation experience, representing clients across Ontario in property tax, administrative law, and civil litigation matters. He is a former Member of the Assessment Review Board and has secured property tax exemptions for charities and non-profit organizations, including as counsel in Stamford Kiwanis Non-Profit Homes Inc. v. Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, a case that broadened the eligibility test for charitable tax exemptions. He has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Assessment Review Board, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Divisional Court, and has advised municipalities on municipal law and trained city councillors on governance issues. Jebreen also works as an independent investigator, mediator, and adjudicator on sport maltreatment complaints for national sports organizations. He earned an LL.B. and B.C.L. from McGill University in 2007, graduating cum laude, and holds an M.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Ottawa and a B.Sc. in biochemistry from Laurentian University. He is fully bilingual and conducts proceedings in both English and French.
