About Alina

Alina is an associate at Torys with a broad litigation and dispute resolution practice, focusing on class action defence, consumer and competition law disputes, and trusts, estates and employment litigation matters. She has appeared as counsel before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and the courts of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. While earning her law degree, she was given the Ronald J. Rolls' 58 Q.C. Prize, awarded for the highest standing in Legal Process. She interned with the Feminist Advocacy Clinical Program, based at the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, where she worked on immigration and outreach initiatives and helped draft a United Nations submission addressing violence against women during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a law student, Alina placed first in the Dentons Cup Negotiation Competition and later won the Canadian National Negotiation Competition, going on to represent Canada internationally. She also served as a Dean's Fellow for Legal Process and was co-president of the Muslim Law Students' Association as well as a senior editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.
