Alexandra Shelley is counsel at Torys, practicing litigation and dispute resolution with a focus on real estate, construction, infrastructure, securities and commercial disputes. She has appeared as counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the British Columbia Supreme Court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Her commercial docket includes post-closing and shareholder disputes along with oppression claims and other business torts, handled both through arbitration and in court, and she regularly appears on the Commercial List for Plan of Arrangement matters involving purchasers and targets. Within construction and infrastructure, she acts for owners, regulators and governments on disputes tied to large energy, infrastructure and condominium projects, including issues of deficiency, delay and fraud. Her real estate work covers lease disputes, misrepresentation and disclosure concerns, boundary and easement questions, and title matters. She belongs to The Advocates' Society, chairing its Young Advocates Standing Committee after joining in 2018 and reaching its executive in 2022. She also volunteers on Pro Bono Ontario's phone hotline and helped set up a pro bono amicus program assisting self-represented litigants at the Commercial List.
