About Alexander De Sousa

Lenders and borrowers come to Alexander De Sousa, an associate in Gowling WLG's Hamilton office, to have their interests protected and their deals properly secured. The work spans lending and real estate transactions, and the client list has run from large financial institutions and private lenders to developers and small and mid-sized companies in a range of industries.

Before joining Gowling WLG, Alexander worked with startups and small businesses at different stages of growth, helping them sort through the business and technology issues that came with each. In 2021, as a student-at-law, Alexander was part of the Canadian corporate and lending team that advised NewGen Resource Lending on a senior secured debt financing for Rambler Metals and Mining, a copper and gold producer. The call to the Ontario bar followed in 2022.

Alexander's interest sits where law and business meet, and it shows in the training: a joint JD/MBA through Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business. Alexander puts that training to work by addressing not only the legal side of a matter but also its broader business implications for clients. At Osgoode, Alexander volunteered with the Mediation Clinic and facilitated mediations in the local community, and at Schulich competed on the school's case team.
