About Alex

Alex Gorka co-leads Osler's Mergers and Acquisitions group. He regularly handles some of Canada's largest and most complicated deals, giving practical guidance to public and private companies, private equity sponsors, and special committees on a wide variety of strategic mandates across many sectors. In the private equity space, Alex has represented firms such as Blackstone, iCON Infrastructure, Sculptor, Paine Schwartz, Inspirit, Platinum Equity, Sterling Partners, and Penfund. He has advised on numerous real estate and REIT deals for clients including Dream, Pure Industrial, Koch Real Estate Investments, SmartCentres, KingSett, and Ventas. Alex completed two secondments at the Ontario Securities Commission's M&A branch, helping draft a new shareholder rights plan rule and contributing to guidance on take-over bid regulation. He teaches mergers and acquisitions as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto's law school within the Global Professional Master of Laws program, and was named a Lexpert Rising Star under 40 in 2020.
