About Ingenuity LLP

Ingenuity LLP is a small business law firm in downtown Toronto, formed in May 2017 when two smaller Toronto practices, Allen & Co. LLP and Berkeley Counsel, merged their operations. Both predecessor firms traced their own roots back to 2010, about seven years before the merger. The firm now runs with three partners and an associate, focusing on corporate and M&A work, commercial matters, financing, private equity and venture capital, securities, and workplace solutions for employers.

Clients range from individual entrepreneurs to mid-sized companies and multinational corporations, across industries that include financial services, manufacturing and retail, food and beverage, energy (including renewable power projects), technology, media and entertainment, and commercial real estate. The partners bring varied backgrounds to the practice. One spent years as an economist with the Ontario government before moving into business law and later serving as chief operating officer and general counsel for a group of private companies. Another practiced corporate and securities law at a national Toronto firm before co-founding one of Ingenuity's predecessor practices in 2010.
