Hyde HR Law is a small employment and labour law firm based in downtown Toronto, with its office on Queens Quay West, close to both the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Superior Court of Justice. Founder John Hyde was called to the Ontario bar in 1993 after earning an Honours B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Guelph along with LL.B. and J.D. degrees, and before starting the firm was managing partner at another Canadian employment law firm. John Hyde is one of only 17 lawyers in Canada certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Labour Law, and came to law from a pre-law background in operations and human resources management in the transportation industry.
The firm's five lawyers act for both employers and employees, handling wrongful dismissal, employment contracts, discrimination and human rights complaints, and severance disputes, along with union side work such as certification and decertification applications, grievance arbitration, and collective bargaining.
