About TMA Law

TMA Law is an association of lawyers based in Hamilton, Ontario, with two offices in the city and a practice that reaches across Southern and Central Ontario. Its lawyers work in municipal and planning law, real estate, wills and estate planning, estate litigation, family law, and civil litigation, and the firm's mortgage remedies practice for lenders has run since 1977. Since 2019, TMA Law has ranked among the top five Municipal and Development Law Firms in the GTHA Rankings compiled by the trade publication Novae Res Urbis.

Parts of the firm's own site still carry an earlier name, Turkstra Mazza, echoing two of its longtime lawyers: Herman Turkstra, whose career spans municipal planning, environmental law, and farm products marketing law before courts up to the Supreme Court of Canada, and Paul Mazza, a commercial and real estate lawyer who has sat on the Canadian Bar Association's Real Property Section executive and on the Ontario Law Reform Commission's advisory committee for its Law of Mortgages Project. Other lawyers on the team teach planning law as adjunct instructors at the University of Waterloo and Toronto Metropolitan University, and have moved between municipal in house counsel roles and private practice.
