About Vicky

Vicky obtained a Juris Doctor (Honours) from the University of Saskatchewan and has built a legal career in BC advocating for gender equality, with extensive experience in immigration law and family law for women experiencing intimate partner violence. Vicky joined Rise in 2017 as supervising lawyer of what became Rise's Virtual Legal Clinic, and became Rise's second Executive Director in 2024, leading a team of 37 professionals who provide legal assistance to over 2,000 women and gender diverse people in BC a year. Vicky has developed and delivered training for lawyers and support workers on working with clients who have experienced violence, and continues to contribute to systemic legal reform through policy development and test case litigation.
