About Fraser

Fraser MacLean is a partner at MacLean Law working out of the firm's Vancouver office, where he practices family law. He has appeared at every level of court in British Columbia, including the Court of Appeal, and has built a record of reported judgments in complex litigation. Fraser served as lead counsel in Zhang v. Chen, the first Canadian case addressing costs arising from AI-generated fake legal citations, and in an earlier phase of the same file secured one of the highest interim spousal support awards in BC history for a client with tens of millions in disputed assets. He was co-counsel in a case where the court declined to recognize a foreign custody order from Texas on public policy grounds, and he led a 25-day parental alienation trial that resulted in compensatory parenting time, a fine, and the appointment of a parenting coordinator. In another matter, he was co-counsel in a 30-day trial in which his client paid no spousal support despite a long marriage and three children, while recovering a substantial retroactive child support award.
