About Tom

Tom Schmit represents the aviation insurance market and large insurers, including operators and insurers based in Canada, London and the US, drawing on an earlier career as a commercial pilot and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to understand complex mechanical failures and pilot error claims. Schmit has appeared before courts at all levels in Alberta, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and British Columbia, as well as the Transportation Safety Board, the WCB Appeals Board and Coroners' Inquests. Tom was called to the Alberta bar in 2000 and the British Columbia bar in 1998, and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Insurance Law and Aviation Law and named a leading Aviation Law practitioner by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
