About Thomas D. Hunter

Thomas D. Hunter is a solicitor at SV Law whose work centres on corporate and commercial matters. Clients include entrepreneurs and investors, newer and established organizations in a range of industries, and charities and non-profit groups. Hunter handles mergers and acquisitions, financings and corporate structuring, drafts and reviews commercial agreements, and gives ongoing advice on general corporate questions. Beyond business law, Hunter belongs to the firm's real estate and wills and estates groups, and farm law is part of the practice too.

Hunter's path into practice started at Lakehead University's Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, where the Lakehead University Community Legal Services Clinic gave a chance to provide pro bono legal help to low-income residents of Northwestern Ontario. Summering and articling came next, at a national firm in Kitchener, with rotations through both business law and advocacy and involvement in some high-profile deals for young, dynamic companies. The call to the Ontario Bar followed in 2022, and Hunter later joined SV Law.

Hunter aims to keep things practical and collaborative, so clients can work through a transaction or an everyday business issue with clarity and confidence. A passion for advocacy is what drew Hunter to the Keep Your Head Up Foundation, a local charity that supports people recovering from traumatic brain injury, and Hunter's served on its board since 2020.
