About Sylvia

Sylvia Basso moved into family law after a lengthy career as a Director of Human Resources and Labour Relations in the consumer products industry. She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario bar in 2019, having articled with a boutique family law firm in Markham. Her prior work draws on two decades helping employers, unions, and employees resolve difficult workplace situations. Sylvia favours negotiation, mediation, and collaborative approaches to help clients settle disputes without going to court, and she offers flat-fee and unbundled legal services alongside traditional hourly billing. She has pursued mediation training toward certification in Family Dispute Resolution and is a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer.
