About Sydney

Sydney Young's practice centres on intellectual property, particularly trademarks, copyright and branding matters. As a registered trademark agent, she handles trademark prosecution, clearance and opposition work for clients in sectors such as music, luxury goods, and beer and spirits. She also advises on commercial IP matters, including licensing and joint development agreements, and has litigated trademark and copyright matters at various levels of court, including the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and has appeared before the Trademarks Opposition Board. Before joining Osler, she served as Director of Legal & Business Affairs at CONNECT Music Licensing and as legal counsel at Re:Sound Music Licensing Company. Young holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.Comm. from Queen's University, and belongs to the Law Society of Ontario and the International Trademark Association.
