About Sven

Sven Poysa chairs Osler's Employment and Labour group and has broad experience across employment and labour law. Sven advises national and international companies on legal and strategic HR issues, including executive employment arrangements, corporate transactions, individual terminations, facility closures, workforce reorganizations, insolvencies, and restructurings. Sven counsels private and public sector clients on labour and employment compliance, outsourcings, and service integrations, and has experience with collective bargaining matters, including union successorship issues. Sven appears in judicial and administrative proceedings covering human rights, interest and rights arbitrations, mediations, workers' compensation, employment standards, occupational health and safety, collective bargaining, and wrongful dismissals. Sven teaches Legal Inquiry at McMaster University and has spoken and written extensively on labour and employment topics. Before joining Osler, Sven clerked at the Quebec Court of Appeal with Justice Joseph Nuss.
