About Carissa

Carissa Mears is the founder and principal lawyer of her firm, overseeing delivery of services that range from AI and privacy law to corporate transactions, real estate, and estates. She advises founders, professionals, and individuals on complex matters across different stages of their lives, working with clients in both Canada and the Caribbean, including Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. Her practice areas include AI law and governance, privacy and cybersecurity, technology transactions, and private client work such as real estate, estate planning, and cross-border wealth structuring. Before founding the firm, Carissa clerked for the Supreme Court of Jamaica and the Caribbean Court of Justice, where she researched and helped prepare the Court's first ruling on native land title, and held legal and privacy roles at Deloitte, CIBC, and MedicAlert Canada. She also practised as an associate in the chambers of a former Jamaican Attorney General, acting as instructing counsel on complex commercial disputes. Carissa holds an LL.B. and an LL.M.
