About Stein

Stein Gudmundseth, KC is a senior commercial litigation lawyer at Gudmundseth Mickelson, known for finding creative solutions to complex commercial disputes through strategic, big-picture thinking. He appears regularly in court on civil, commercial, and securities matters, and has acted for the University of British Columbia, insurers including Transamerica Life Canada, investment dealers, and the Government of British Columbia, including on constitutional appeals over judicial remuneration. Stein taught civil litigation at the University of British Columbia for 10 years and has spoken for the Continuing Legal Education Society and Insight. He served as Honorary Consul General of Norway in British Columbia for 20 years and was appointed by King Harald of Norway as a Knight First Class in the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit in 2008, later promoted to Commander in 2016. He earned his BA from the University of Victoria in 1969 and his LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1973, was called to the British Columbia bar in 1974, and was appointed King's Counsel in 1999.
