About Simon
Simon C. Knowling is a partner whose practice combines corporate and capital markets work with deep experience across real estate and REITs. He leads Torys' REITs practice, drawing on a long history of advising both real estate companies and REITs in matters spanning securities law, commercial deals, and joint ventures. He regularly represents issuers and the underwriting banks in a wide array of equity and debt deals, both public and private, including IPOs for companies in this sector. His broader practice touches on commercial law, commercial real estate, private M&A, and bank financing. Simon has advised First Capital REIT on its capital markets work since 2005, assisted Amica Senior Lifestyles Trust with acquisitions and financing across its seniors housing portfolios, and helped Automotive Properties REIT with its IPO and later offerings.
