About Shawn
Shawn practises exclusively in criminal defence, currently focusing on major crimes including murder, sexual assault, child pornography, and other technology-related offences, and has been successful at all levels of court in Alberta. Before becoming a lawyer he spent several years in information technology, working for large telecommunications companies and eventually IBM in Edmonton, which gave him expertise in web and social media platforms, email, messaging, cellular technology, GPS, and image manipulation and reconstruction. He has built a network of forensic analysts, IT architects, and telecommunications experts to help defend clients and counter police handling of digital evidence. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta, and is the current President of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association.
