About Shannon
Shannon Gotfrit is a partner at Torys focused on private equity work. Shannon's practice covers structuring, fund formation, and fund investments, and involves close collaboration with fund sponsors and institutional investors across many types of funds and jurisdictions. Shannon represents fund sponsors in raising capital and setting up new funds, while also advising public pension plans and other institutional investors that invest in private funds. Serving as co-head of Torys' private equity funds practice, Shannon has broad experience across hedge funds, venture capital funds, private equity funds, and fund-of-funds vehicles. Shannon has worked with sponsors including Imperial Capital, BentallGreenOak, OMERS Ventures, Sagard Holdings, Northleaf Capital Partners, and Dawson Partners to set up special purpose vehicles and raise capital for private funds. Shannon has been repeatedly recognized as a leading lawyer in investment funds by Chambers Canada and named Lawyer of the Year for private funds law by Best Lawyers in Canada. Shannon earned a JD in 2006.
