Scott R. Venton is a partner in Foglers' Litigation Group who has represented financial institutions, corporations, and individuals in matters spanning commercial contract disputes, securities, debt enforcement, and insolvency. He has particular experience in insurance litigation and negligence law, frequently defending insurance companies against claims brought against them. Scott has appeared as trial counsel and argued contested motions at multiple levels within Ontario's court system, including the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal, along with the Divisional Court, and he has brought leave applications before the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared before the Coroner's Court and various administrative tribunals. His clients have included major financial institutions, casinos, and high-net-worth individuals and families, and he writes and speaks on subjects like debt enforcement, insurance coverage, and director and officer liability.
