About Scott
Scott K. Fenton was called to the bar in 1988 and has practised criminal defence for decades, focusing on trials, appeals, and constitutional issues. He founded Fenton Law Barristers in 2000, having previously worked as an associate at McCarthy Tetrault, as Crown Counsel with the federal Department of Justice, and as a partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin. He has argued cases at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and made multiple appearances at the Supreme Court of Canada, including in R. v. Stillman, R. v. Goldhart, and R. v. Harrison. His practice covers corporate and white-collar crime, extradition, cross-border investigations, foreign corruption, tax evasion, and regulatory prosecutions, and he often acts as special prosecutor for government agencies and police defendants. Scott holds a law degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Western Ontario, where he graduated as a gold medalist. He holds Fellow status with the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers, and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and previously chaired the National Criminal Law Program's faculty.
