The property traces back to Wellington Place, a nineteenth century residential enclave that gave way to an early twentieth century warehouse and industrial strip; the neighbouring building on the same block was designed by architect J.A. Harvey for the Granatstein family's business. Like other heritage properties in King-Spadina, the block has since been converted from industrial use to office space, which is where the firm's own office now sits.
