Roger D. McConchie founded McConchie Law Corporation in March 2004 after 20 years as a partner in the Vancouver office of a major Canadian law firm. He has practised law in British Columbia for more than 40 years and is ranked by both Lexpert and Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in the law of defamation. He is a co-author of the textbook Canadian Libel and Slander Actions and has contributed the Canada chapter to the UK textbooks Carter-Ruck on Libel and Privacy and the Carter-Ruck International Media Law Guide. McConchie holds a B.A. from the Faculty of Arts and an LL.B. from the Faculty of Law, both from the University of British Columbia, and worked as a Canadian diplomat with the Department of External Affairs from 1971 to 1974. He was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1978 and to the bar of Alberta in 1989, and has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench, the Federal Court, and the Supreme Court of Canada. For the past 30 years his practice has focused on defamation and privacy law, and he speaks, writes, and reads Spanish and reads French.
