About Sandra
Sandra Banister leads Banister & Company and has practised labour law and civil litigation, with an emphasis on employment and personal injury law, for over 35 years. She graduated from law school at the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1982, after completing a clerkship with the British Columbia Supreme Court. She regularly appears before the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, labour arbitrations, the BC Labour Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal, and has also appeared before the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Quebec Superior Court, and the Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench. In 2011 she was designated Queen's Counsel (now King's Counsel). She has acted as Special Counsel to the BC Transit Board and as Special Advisor to the Ministry of Small Business, Tourism and Culture on the Status of the Artist, and has taught the British Columbia Labour Law course at the Canadian Labour Congress's Winter School since 1985.
