About Alan

Alan McConchie has 20 years of litigation experience with a focus on defamation, reputation management, and cyber libel. He represents clients at all levels of the court system, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the British Columbia Supreme Court, and the British Columbia Provincial Court, as well as before administrative tribunals and arbitration boards. His work includes helping identify parties responsible for anonymous online defamation, addressing defamation on social media, and responding to defamatory reviews, and he also advises clients proactively to help prevent lawsuits before they arise. McConchie graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 2002 and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Simon Fraser University, and he was called to the bar of British Columbia in 2003. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. His notable matters include Malak v. Hanna (indexed as Valley Traffic Systems Inc. v. Malak), 2024 BCCA 370, and Rook v. Halcrow, 2019 BCSC 2253.
