Colson Winterstein LLP is a small Toronto firm founded in 2023 by lawyers from the Colson Group at the firm formerly known as Teplitsky, Colson LLP. Founding partners Robert Colson and Michael Winterstein lead a team of four lawyers built around two practice areas: employment law and litigation, and corporate and commercial litigation. Employment law is what the firm calls the centrepiece of its practice, acting for both employees and employers, with particular attention to senior and executive level disputes such as wrongful and constructive dismissal, human rights complaints, and restrictive covenants.
On the commercial side, the firm takes on shareholder and partnership disputes, contract claims, and applications for injunctive relief, including Mareva injunctions and Anton Piller orders, and it regularly appears on Toronto's Commercial List. Robert Colson was counsel in Schumacher v. Toronto Dominion Bank, an early Ontario decision on constructive dismissal damages, and the firm's lawyers say they've acted as counsel in more than 4,600 employment files over the past 25 years. The firm is currently based on Bond Street in downtown Toronto and plans to move a short distance to 25 Adelaide Street East in September 2026.

By appointmentColson Winterstein's current office sits on Bond Street, a short downtown Toronto street that runs from Gould Street to Queen Street East through what a heritage building database lists as the Downtown Yonge East area. The street is shared with Toronto Metropolitan University buildings, including the former Toronto Normal School site, and with St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica, putting a small litigation firm in the middle of a university and church block rather than a typical office tower row.
In September 2026 the firm plans to relocate a short distance to 25 Adelaide Street East, a 1927 office building known as Victoria Tower that sits in Toronto's Financial District. The move keeps the firm within the same stretch of downtown Toronto, closer to the commercial and banking activity that shapes much of its shareholder and employer side work.
