About Richard

Richard Swift was born and raised in British Columbia and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and a law degree from the University of British Columbia. He moved to the Comox Valley in 1977 and, a year later, was joined by Azim Datoo to form Swift Datoo in Courtenay. He was awarded Queen's Counsel in 1989 (now King's Counsel), and his practice now centers on commercial and residential real estate with an emphasis on land development. Richard has served on the Board of Governors of BCIT, on the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC's board, on several Law Society of BC committees, and as chair of the Patient Care Quality Review Board for Island Health for ten years.
