About Richard
Richard N. Billington, K.C. is the founder of Billington Barristers in Calgary and has practiced as trial, appellate and regulatory counsel since 1984. He appears before all levels of court in Alberta, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, and has also appeared before courts in other provinces and territories. His practice centres on emergency pre-trial applications to fight fraud and corporate oppression, and he represents energy companies, oilfield service providers, investors, corporate boards, trustees in bankruptcy and financial institutions. Rick is experienced in protecting employers against former employees who breach fiduciary or confidentiality obligations, in wrongful dismissal actions, and in obtaining and defending against injunctions and emergency orders; more than 80 of his cases have been reported in the law reports. He was appointed Queen's Counsel by the Province of Alberta in 2005 and regularly speaks to industry and professional groups on fraud and corporate oppression remedies.
