About Rhea

Rhea Murti is an associate in OKT's Toronto office. She returned to the firm after a clerkship at the Superior Court of Justice, where she worked on a number of high-profile cases and the court's first Indigenous sentencing circle. Rhea completed her law degree at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she earned the Certificate in Aboriginal Studies under Professor Kent Roach and served as a Senior Editor of the Indigenous Law Journal. She previously worked with the Legal Clinic of Aboriginal Legal Services, later joining its board as a Shadow Director. Her involvement in Indigenous community organizations spans more than a decade and includes Chiefs of Ontario and the Indigenous Rematriation Collective. Before law school she studied at McMaster University. Rhea focuses on Indigenous criminal justice issues and has written on topics including the sentencing of Indigenous people under Gladue and the criminalization of Indigenous land defenders.
