He served for eight years as chair of the Employment Insurance Board of Referees, until that tribunal closed. He is president of Club L'Espoir Jeunesse, a nonprofit that works with the City of Montreal and its police service to fight social exclusion through youth sports, and has served for over a decade on the board of C.H.O.C., a nonprofit addressing domestic violence and suicide prevention. He is also president of the Institut national de secourisme du Québec and has acted as an expert in personal injury litigation arising from ski accidents, and worked with Quebec's education, recreation and sport ministry on safety standards for winter sports.
