About Peter

Peter is a partner practising primarily in securities, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance, with deep experience in the mining, oil and gas, and natural resources industries. He has worked for public and private issuers as well as investment banks. Before joining the firm, he served as general counsel to Frontera Energy Corporation, Gran Colombia Gold Corp., and Bolivar Gold Corp., among others, and has practised as a corporate and securities lawyer since 1988 in Toronto and, for two years, in Tokyo. For over 22 years he acted as chief legal counsel to a group that founded and developed more than a dozen public companies, mainly in the resources sector, gaining extensive experience in financing, M&A, and reverse takeovers on transactions worth more than $15 billion in aggregate. He also developed broad experience in corporate governance and contested proxy battles, and led Frontera through the largest CCAA filing of 2016. Peter holds a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and an MBA from York University, along with an undergraduate degree in political science from Creighton University. He is recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in Mining Law.
