About Peter

Peter Kolla is a partner in Goodmans' Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, working on complex commercial and financial litigation, arbitration, and securities-related disputes tied to mergers and acquisitions. He has taken a ten-figure damages claim through to a successful verdict and has defended clients facing similarly large exposure. His trial and appellate work has taken him before Ontario's Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, and Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, and courts in Alberta, Quebec, and British Columbia, plus federal, U.S. bankruptcy, and regulatory forums. He frequently appears on the Toronto Commercial List in matters involving shareholder activism, corporate governance, director and officer liability, and insolvency proceedings. Peter is recognized in the Legal 500 Canada, Benchmark Litigation Canada, Lexpert, and Best Lawyers in Canada rankings. Before entering practice, he clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Louise Charron. He now mentors junior lawyers and students at Goodmans, and teaches business law at the University of Toronto.
