About Peter

Peter Johnson is a partner in the firm's solicitors group who advises local governments across British Columbia on planning and development law, real estate and commercial transactions, contract tendering, construction projects, bylaw drafting, expropriation, environmental law, and freedom of information and privacy matters. He has served as Ethics Commissioner for the City of Surrey since 2023 and was previously Assistant City Solicitor for a large Lower Mainland municipality before joining the firm in 2001. Johnson earned his LL.B. from the University of British Columbia in 1988 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1990, after working as a law clerk with the County Court of Vancouver. He is a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association's Municipal Law Section (BC Branch) and a contributing author of Canada Law Book's Annotated British Columbia Local Government Act and Community Charter.
