About Kate
Kate R. Phipps is a partner at Arvay Finlay LLP, called to the bar in British Columbia in 2013. A litigator specializing in administrative law, she clerked for a year at the Supreme Court of British Columbia, articled in an international law firm's administrative and regulatory practice, and served three years as Legal Counsel to the British Columbia Supreme Court before joining Arvay Finlay. Her practice covers judicial reviews, privacy, Aboriginal and constitutional law, labour and employment matters, and human rights cases, and she regularly advises tribunals, government agencies, and post-secondary student societies on governance and regulatory compliance. She supported senior counsel on R v Desautel, a significant Aboriginal rights case involving the Sinixt community. She has been a Canadian Bar Association member since 2008 and sits on the BC Council of Administrative Tribunals and West Coast LEAF's litigation committee.
