About Patrick
Patrick Nugent represents trade unions and employees in labour and employment matters at Nugent Law Office, the Edmonton firm he leads. He was valedictorian of his law school class of 1997, articled to Phyllis Smith at Emery Jamieson, and served as Senior Legal Counsel to the Chief Justice of Alberta. Nugent has represented clients including airline pilots, miners, police officers, and municipal employees in grievance arbitrations, labour board matters, disciplinary hearings, human rights proceedings, and cases before all levels of court in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has taught constitutional law and, since 2004, labour arbitration at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, and he speaks regularly at national and local labour law conferences.
