About Patricia

Patricia (Pat) Blocksom is counsel at DBB Law and a senior matrimonial lawyer whose practice emphasizes negotiation, mediation, and arbitration in family and estate disputes. A partner with the firm since 1990, she also advises on pre-nuptial, cohabitation, and post-nuptial agreements. Pat received the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2011, becoming the first female lawyer in Alberta to receive that honour, and was appointed King's Counsel in 1998. She has served on charitable boards supporting development in Ethiopia and Afghanistan and has been a director of CUPS, a Calgary anti-poverty organization, since 2017. Pat has taught family mediation for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and has received numerous awards for advancing equality in the legal profession, including the Law Society of Alberta's 2023 Distinguished Service Award.
