About Nonye
Nonye Opara is a Senior Associate at Osuji & Smith with experience spanning private practice, legal academia and nearly a decade in the public interest sector. Nonye earned an LL.B. with Honours (Summa Cum Laude) from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria in 2008 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2009, then moved to Canada in 2011 to pursue specialized studies in Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law at the University of Calgary, completing an LL.M. and a Certificate of Qualification in 2014. Nonye was called to the Alberta Bar in 2025. Before joining Osuji & Smith, Nonye served as Executive Director at Pro Bono Law Alberta, overseeing human resources, financial stewardship, policy implementation and access-to-justice initiatives.
