About Michael

Michael Hargraves is Senior Counsel at Lidstone & Company and has practised law in British Columbia for more than 20 years. Since 2007 he has focused on acting for local governments in a solicitor's role, including as Municipal Solicitor for the District of Saanich from 2017 to 2022. He is a past chair of the Municipal Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) and a frequent conference presenter and author on local government topics. His practice covers real property matters, contracts, land use planning and development, bylaw drafting and interpretation, procurement, risk management, construction, expropriation, conflicts of interest, constitutional law, and governance.
