About Michael

Michael D. Heikkinen is a partner in Cox & Palmer's Moncton office. He earned an LL.B. (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa in 2010 and was called to the bar of Ontario in 2011, later practising with a litigation firm in Ottawa and then in his hometown of Thunder Bay, where he represented clients throughout Northwestern Ontario, including matters before fly-in courts in remote First Nations communities. He was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2019 and has appeared before the New Brunswick Court of King's Bench Trial and Family Divisions, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court and the Ontario Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. His practice focuses on construction litigation, family law with an emphasis on complex property and support issues, and estate litigation, planning and administration. He chairs the Canadian Bar Association New Brunswick's Construction Section and sits on the Moncton Area Lawyers' Association Council.
