About Melissa

Melissa is a litigation partner at Prowse Barrette LLP focused on disputes involving privacy, civil sexual assault, employment, expropriation, administrative matters, and corporate and commercial issues. She assisted lead counsel Philip Prowse on ES v Shillington, which established a new privacy tort in Alberta for the public disclosure of private facts, and was later lead counsel in Grummett v Warholik, obtaining substantial damages for a victim of image-based abuse. She was also lead counsel in Colenutt v Colenutt, successfully defending against the recognition of an independent tort of family violence in Alberta. She is a former president of the Alberta Expropriation Association.
