About Jordan Narod

Jordan Narod is a corporate commercial lawyer in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, where the associate works within the Corporate Commercial, Funds and Private M&A Practice Group. Technology, telecommunications and governance are where Narod's experience runs deepest. Crown corporations, charities, not-for-profits and private companies all turn to Narod regularly, and the work covers transactions, day-to-day operations and dealings with government.

Called to the Ontario bar in 2021, Narod earned a JD from the University of Ottawa the year before. The first stop was another Ottawa law firm, helping entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses through each stage as they grew. A secondment as legal counsel to a major Canadian telecommunications company then added real regulatory depth, with Narod working beside the company's business and legal teams on matters before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.

There's a less common side to the practice, too. In Canada's sport sector, Narod takes on independent investigator and adjudicator roles when maltreatment or serious misconduct is alleged, sorting through sensitive facts and assessing complex fact patterns to reach decisions.

Narod held an executive member-at-large seat on the Ontario Bar Association's Entertainment, Media and Communications Law Section in 2021. In a 2023 piece for that section, Narod recalled once advising a photographer by phone on protecting copyrights, and argued that the way to reach artists, writers and musicians is to know your audience and lean into what they care about. Before law school, Narod finished a kinesiology degree at the University of British Columbia in 2011.
