About Mélanie
Mélanie Cantin is an associate at Hicks Adams practicing criminal defence in Toronto. She completed her articles at the firm, which gave her a chance to learn from experienced defence counsel before returning as an associate. Franco-Ontarian, she graduated magna cum laude from the French Juris Doctor program at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2024, where she worked as a student caseworker at the community legal clinic and served as teaching assistant for the first-year criminal law course. She has developed a particular interest in criminal evidence law and carefully reviews each file to flag evidentiary issues early. She holds a BA with high distinction in criminology and criminal justice from Carleton University and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Toronto Lawyers Association. She is bilingual in English and French.
